Cross-Cultural Experiences Summary and Suggestions

My SEA Teacher experience was truly enriching, especially in terms of cross-cultural learning and professional growth. It allowed me to experience a different educational environment where teaching practices, classroom setup, and student engagement were both familiar and new at the same time. Through this immersion, I was able to observe and share teaching practices while also acquiring new strategies from my cooperating teacher and the school system. This exchange of ideas and methods helped me broaden my perspective on how science education can be effectively delivered in a diverse classroom setting.

One of my main personal objectives was to share our teaching practices and to learn from other teaching approaches, and this objective was fully achieved. I was able to implement inquiry-based science teaching while also observing how lessons were structured and delivered in the host school. My expectations were also exceeded because of the overall experience, the facilities, accommodation, and support provided were excellent. The environment made me feel welcomed and comfortable, as if I had a second home in the host institution. This positive atmosphere greatly contributed to my overall learning and adjustment during the practicum.

In terms of suggestions for improvement of the program, I believe there is a need for stronger communication between the host school and the receiving institution. This is important to avoid instances where student teachers are assigned to levels outside their specialization, as in my case where I was assigned to teach elementary learners despite being in a secondary education program. Although it became a valuable and memorable experience, clearer coordination would help ensure that placements align more closely with the participants’ academic preparation and teaching specialization.

Another suggestion is to consider providing at least minimal financial support or assistance for participants. Many student teachers are eager to join the SEA Teacher Program, but financial constraints can limit their opportunity to participate. Offering support or implementing a more structured selection process based on available budget and screening could help ensure fairness while still allowing deserving student teachers to experience this program. This would also help expand access to more aspiring educators who are willing but financially challenged.

Nonetheless, despite these suggestions, my SEA Teacher journey remains a deeply meaningful and unforgettable experience. It was a period of growth, learning, and cultural exchange that I will always cherish.

Reflection

This quarter will be the last quarter for us to show ourselves and to show what we got.
I learned a lot and I faced some challenges and difficulties in connection to this quarter's lessons and activities. I know to myself that I did my best for me to surpass those challenges and difficulties.
Last quarter, last activity, last lesson, last test, and last bonding with friends for this school year. But all of this memories will never fade in my heart. I will always remember this school year because it's one of the best S.Y. ever.

make it happen

Dream. Believe. Survive.

Every great dream begins with a dreamer.

Everyone of us wants a bright and beautiful future. We all want to become successful and have a wonderful living. But before we achieve those things in the future, we must focus first on the present.

The first thing that we must do is to have self-confidence in everything we do. Now, I will study hard for me to achieve my dream.
Before I wanted to become a teacher but now I want to become police. Being a police is hard especially I am a woman but nothing impossible as long as we're happy on what we are doing.

If I will achieve that dream, I cannot exactly say that my future is good but even though life is hard, I will to whatever it takes to achieve my dream because my dream is my future.

All of our dreams will come true, if we have the courage to pursue them, make it happen.
Just always remember to put God first in the center because we got everything we have from him and remember that he can easily take it back if we don't use it in a right way.

According to piagovph, the old and the new in Ilocano culture are both featured in this year’s Kannawidan Ylocos Festival -  the festival of Ilocos Sur that celebrates its being a separate province and its being a treasure chest of traditions and culture.

It is held from January 28 to February 17. This celebration is very fun and exciting. There are lots of activities and competitions competed by different people from Vigan and from the neighboring towns. There are also different artists coming in Vigan City for us to have more fun with them and to enjoy this event. The other ancestral cultural activities in the festival include the zarzuela show, traditional games and pallot or cock games.

The festival is also a show of the province’s trade and agriculture products, and is a
livelihood training ground for women and students through the Department of Trade and Industry and Department of Agriculture.
